I saw posts here a week or so back about the lake level being dropped on Hawkins to allow people to work on their docks. I have Thanksgiving week off and was contemplating going there to take a look at the lake with the water down, does anyone here know if any of the ramps are still usable with the lake at the lower level? Thanks.

I launched at the Park, wouldn't even think about using the other two. The launch ramp at the Park was a skinny one lane ramp and dropped off pretty quick. Nothing to see with the lake down but a bunch of stumps with rebar in the top of them. At full pool those rebar would be just under the surface and rip your glass wide open. Have no idea what kind of idiot would do something like that. Fishing sucked too. I think you would have more fun driving backward on 635. Hope this helps.

Don't go often but occasionally do because(at full pool) it's such a beautiful classic little East Texas lake and I keep thinking it might fish decent sometime. Not yet. Guess I've been lucky. Been full each time I've been and other than seeing a few of those "rebar stump markers" I've not tangeled with them.

Easier to get to also. There are a few folks who drive backwards on 635 but you have to get out between 1 and 5am on Sunday morning to see them.

Hawkins can be tough fishing and tough on your vessel. One of those stumps claimed my Hobie mirage drive.

Thanks for the input guys. I dont even know if Ill wet a line, I just want to look around the lake and see it at the lower level. We fish Hawkins several times a year usually with a couple of small local clubs, its been hit or miss for me. Do ok sometimes and struggle at others. Ill probably put in, ride around a bit and then leave and go somewhere else to fish.

How long is it supposed to stay down? Id like to take a trip out there with a flat bottom instead of my 20ft glass boat and check out some stuff. But I can't get down there til at least 2nd weeks of December

But I can't get down there til at least 2nd weeks of December They are lowering it so the people can work on their docks. How long that will take is anyone's guess. They need to work on their ramps while they're at it. Two of them weren't usable when I was there and the one at the Park could use a remodel.
