Come on guys the season will be over before someone reply’s at this rate! Lol! I had a buddy about 3 weeks ago surfacing and I am wanting to keep up with what they are doing Incase I get a chance to go chance them. Thanks!

We were out at Canyon on 11/15 and 11/17 trying for stripers. I searched and fished
the places that had produced around the first part of October. Nothing now. I couldn't
even chart hardly any bait or fish between the dam area all the way up to Comal Park area.
Both days were very tough. We ran downriggers next to the river channel for over
2 miles. Caught one 10 inch striper. I did manage to find one area with a few fish
charted suspended over tree tops in 80 feet of water. We parked on top of them
with iPilot and lowered minnows on them and caught a few bass and catfish.

I saw no top water action on either day.

If I was going to go to Canyon right now I would put in mid to upper part of the
lake and work around there.

Hope to be out there all day Friday, but wasn’t planning on looking for stripers. If one surprises me I will let you know!

Went to Canyon yesterday for the first time. Graphed a ton of area looking for bait and fish and the screen was basically blank all day. No bird action either but it was a stiff North wind. Only baitfish I saw was in super shallow water and ended up catching a few small bass around them. For you Canyon experts, do the whites and stripers ever school on top with birds working or do you have to find them with sonar?

Late sept-October had lots of bird and top water action and then areas where they could be found on the graph. Been tough the last few weeks.. haven't been in a couple weeks, but some of the regulars that I've fished around have had the same report with not finding much lately.

Drifted this morning for some along east bank of the big Cranes Mill cove (just around the point from ramp 7). Only got a couple of sand bass in about 30-40 ft.

Thanks doctor ring!

drm183 I know the whites bust top water and the birds will dive down for the wounded bait fish but it's been so long since I have seen it I can't remember the time of year. Seems like I remember it being spring and summer, something like that. I remember it being till about 10am and in the last couple hours in the evening.I bet someone will read this and give a better description of the time frame.

Southtxangler22 had a friend gave me the same report on strippers which is why I was asking. I think it was about a month to 2 ago and he said the birds were diving and the strippers were busting the water and had a field day! I want to know when it is happening again so hopefully he and I can go get in on it. He went out for largemouth and saw the birds and had a blast! I'm hoping it isn't over for the year.

Please keep this going and hopefully we can all catch a bunch!!!

It's not necisarrily over, it's just not out in the middle of the lake as consistent as it was in sept-October. Last year I caught striper all through the later winter into April under birds. That lake is so full of boats in the summer It's hard to find fish. Spring is great too. Remember, not all those fish go up river. They are called sand bass in north east Texas where I'm from bc they spawn on sandy points. I never go up the guad to catch them. There are plenty on the sandy points stacked up. I just spot lock and they generally stay in the area longer. They are typically around the striper as well. It's really a Great Lake to learn.. and when the hard work pays off, it really pays off.
