LAKE FORK FALL REPORT 2017
As of this post, the water level is sitting at 401.94 and the temps are right around 64 degrees. I have been fishing both shallow and deep and the numbers have been very good. We've been having 30+ fish on good days and around 15 on slow days.
SHALLOW BITE
I am fishing in the backs of main feeder creeks, right in the creek or very close to it, and there needs to be grass and bait fish around... I am fishing anywhere from 1 to 5 foot, throwing a lot of different baits.
Weightless Fluke (mardi gras)
Top Waters ( shad color)
Spinner Baits (white)
Skinny Dipper (white)
T-Rig with a speed worm (watermelon and green pumpkin)
DEEP BITE
I am fishing in 15 to 20 foot on main lake points in areas where I am seeing a lot of fish on the graph. I am really just throwing two different baits right now.The Carolina Rig has been very good to me this fall. I am rigging it with a 1 oz weight, 5 foot leader and a #3 rigging hook. My best results have come on Flukes (mardi gras) and 7 inch Power Worms (pumpkin seed).
The other bait I am throwing out deep has been a Drop Shot with a #1 rigging hook, a 5/16 oz weight with 4 inch finesse worm (mardi gras) and (red.)
I hope this information will help anyone coming to Fork. I also have days available this fall and winter.
