Going to try to catch some catfish from the bank, tomorrow if work schedule allows. What water depth should I be looking for channel cats in ? I have a very small one-man boat and can't run the lake if windy. I usually can only get on the water if the wind is around 5 mph or less, so will be fishing from the bank. I think the water temp may be around 62 degrees now (?). Might try Hubbard or Lavon. Thanks for any help !

I've had consistent luck in 2-3 feet of water, right up against the last flooded brush facing submerged creek channels (lake-side of things). The channel cats can have a very light bite, I missed several this past Sunday to dull hooks (ik, no excuse) and not really recognizing the hits (bobber was too heavy).
Guess I got spoiled with lots of no-questions strikes a few weeks back.
Plug for Stubby's too. I've been real happy with his bait.

Lavon was strange for me Sunday. Nothing shallow. Finally found active fish 22-23 fow but no bites drifting. I had to anchor and fish straight down a crank off the bottom. Managed to pick up 11 for a fish fry but nothing over 2 1/2 pounds and very few lees than 2lbs. Mix of channels and blues. Tons of shad everywhere.

Channel Catfish 26lbs
Blue Cat 30lb
Bass 9.5lb

Thanks for the replies and info. Since I'll be fishing from the bank I'll try the brush areas, and put some bait out a little deeper also. Didn't know if I should concentrate shallow or deep, but sounds like I'd better try both. Not familiar with Stubby's bait. Will look for that. Thanks !
