My wife and I will be in Greenville, SC in March and we're wanting to go out a day with a guide. Any lakes or guide suggestions for the area? Lake Hartwell is out because we will be there the weekend of the Classic.

I lived in Anderson for 20 years. Lake Jocassee is worth looking. Lake Russell is south of Hartwell and is a great lake as well. Never used a guide there. Striper fishing is a big thing on Hartwell and Russell (records around 65 lbs). I wouldn't rule Hartwell out because of the classic being there. It is a huge lake that fishes even larger. The field will be cut in half by the weekend. PM me with any more questions.

Jocassee is a little over an hour from Greenville and by far the most beautiful lake in the area. Healthy trout population, too. Very deep with little structure. Keowee is below Jocassee and very nice as well. Hartwell is probably the best bass lake in the chain, but the least scenic so it just depends on what you're looking for.
