The digital chargers (D series) are mainly for Lead acid batteries, though they will charge other types. The digital has a quick charge and monitor algorithms. The PC chargers have the added advantage of being able to program for specifically lead acid, gel, or AGM to give you the Maximum charge profile.

OK SO THE PC IS THE BETTER ONE TO GET. DO YOU KNOW MUCH ABOUT PRO MARINER ONES LIKE I POSTED HERE EARLIER. I AM USING LEAD BATTERIES. ANY WAY BUT FOR A FEW MORE DOLLARS YOU GET A BETTER UNIT. Sorry just noticed the capitals. I have a Terrova 36 Volt 112 force trolling motor and my existing used to me digital minn kota battery charger isnt charging the batteries very well. it only charges them to 12.8 or so. a full battery should be 14 volts or so. right ?

Yes, the voltage when it' charged should be showing over 14. After it sets, it will settle down to around 12.75 +/-. If you can swing the extra $$'s go with the PC. Don't know much about the Pro Mariner.

WARNING: That ProMariner charger product series IS NOT WATERPROOF. It is not 100% sealed; it has venting, so water can get into the chassis.

ProMariner is a good company with significant marine system design expertise. They were (and are) a major company with many electrical system products for large boats (and even yachts). That product is for dry "equipment rooms" on-board larger vessels. They have some good charging products, but that's not the product line you'd want. The ProTournament Elite Series offers the best charging capacity and is a better choice for serious anglers who fish long hours, and often. The ProSport Series has lower total amperage ratings; it's OK for the average guy looking to save a few bucks.
