Planning on taking my kayak out to fort phantom monday. Only been there one other time so Im not too familiar with the lake.
I figured I would start out shallow given the weather and time of year. So my question is, where would be the best place to put in to access the south west part of the lake?

There is the Seabee park around if you are wanting to access the very southwest end. You may want to consider fishing near Charlottes cove. I'm not sure if bait and catfish are down in the southwest end but I can tell you there are lots of bait in and around Charlottes cove (aka, main boat ramp cove) and the humps not far from the ramp. I saw lots of smaller catfish hanging out in the area a few weeks ago as well.

Thanks for the info on bait! I should already have some bait from Buffalo Springs here in Lubbock. Gonna make a bait run this afternoon

I caught probably 50 plus shad in one cast of my net about 40 feet from the main dock there and was set for the rest of my trip
