Me and a buddy dragging the Blue Wave to Port Arthur for a couple days fishing in Sabine Lake area. Any suggestions on where to stay?

Sabine Pass Inn.

It ain't no Holiday Inn but you are there to sleep.

Only place to stay south of the intercoastal.

God loves you just as much as anybody else!!

Thanks for the intel, Roach. Stayed two nights there. You are spot on, it is not the Taj but it was a clean bed, AC, warm shower and an outlet to charge the trolling batteries. Coffee and heat 'n eat came from the local gas station. Hard to get a room as they have people displaced by Harvey staying there full time. Sure loved the fishing though. Got in on a pre-sunrise, top-water trout bite that will stay with me forever. Spook Jr in bone was the ticket. In current over shell bed, 6"-18" water. Stayed on them for over an hour. Fish to 26" caught. Big Red got off just as the net was passing over his tail. Wanna go back soon... I go to sleep at night hearing my drag peel..... Recommend the adventure to everyone.

I'll be staying there as well. There will be about 8 of us headed there November 15-19.

I could write volumes on some of the places I've stayed over the years in the pursuit of another fish or various ungulates. All depends on what your expectations are and what you are willing to accept for convenience. I'm good with being 2 minutes from fresh coffee and another 2 minutes from the launch. I liked the clean room and hot shower. I could have lived without the cigarette smoke and incense wafting down the hall but it kept the monster mosquitoes out (and did not pollute the room). If you want coffee in your room, pack Mr Coffee. If you require scented soap or shampoo, pack it in. This place is as basic as it gets. My wife would not be happy there but that's just the second reason why I like it so much...(er...maybe the first...)

Remember to practice two things and you will be just fine... saying "get the net" and "fish on"... everything else is just window dressing
