How have the smallies been doing on Texoma? Just wondering if they have started to bite yet.

My son made this thread. He wants to catch a smallmouth real bad. Any help would be great because I have never just went out and tried to catch smallies... I have caught some on Belton but that was more lucky than anything.
Thanks.

Closer to the dam, south side shorelines, rocky banks/points.
Grateful for every sunrise and sunset I get to witness. - Jason

You can catch them up in OK by the long RR Bridge. East side.

I'm going tomorrow and will give you a report back if we get into any smallies, square and medium diving 1.5 size cranks, finesse jigs, shakyhead, spinnerbait, chatterbait, a rig, etc will catch them from time to. Biggest ones 8 have personally caught out there have been on squares, b7t I have caught alot more on the finesse jig and shakyhead than any other way. Eisenhower to the dam is usually prime time smallie area and also willow springs, any point from highport east is cabaple of having smallies on them from time to time. They are very hard to pattern out there though.

Thanks guys ya'll are feeding the monster.... but I would not have it any other way. At least I know where he is and not running the streets. I have a 4 year old ready to start fishing so the journey will continue.

Main lake windy rocky. I learned that there is no such thing as to much wind on a point. Try to find a Stanley Spinnerbait Golden Shinner in 1/2oz with double gold wedge blades #4 on the back. This was the only color we could get them to crush pre-post front. The smaller blades allowed you to burn it.

Took my Father out a couple days ago, I caught a good 4ish on a jerkbait and my father caught another solid 4 on a Jig. In the areas mentioned above. We didn't spend much time working on the smallmouth, but I will tell you they are starting to gang up right now, the one I caught on a Jerkbait had another one with it trying to take it out of his mouth. Best of luck to you. This was the day after the front hit by the way, so they are biting, I can assure you that. Side note, Don't bother trying to mess with the Largemouth or spotted bass up on that lake they aren't biting a bit... They are biting like crazy right now, just follow the seasonal patterns, but remember that lake can fish VERY shallow.
