Has boomed off from main lake. About last 1/3 of cove near White Oak Shores. TPW did it Monday after calls from concerned people.

Heard maybe 6 months they have sprayed.

Can't wait to read the posts on here about all the clever guys that went around or over the barrier to fish that protected part of the lake...

Are there rules or laws against going over or around the barriers?

I do not have any experience with them.

Not that I am aware of. But...if TPWD thinks its a problem and most Texas anglers consider it a problem, then maybe we should play more of a part in the containment. I've had the salvania hang on the outboard and drag around for a long time while fishing. If people go in those areas and really make sure they aren't spreading it, then fish it. But I doubt everyone will do that especially since most won't know why, they will just see other people in there. That's what happened in Chaney and it did move into other areas around that creek. That said, the booms are better than chemicals. The one in Chaney is annoying because you can't run to the back of the creek anymore but still better than spraying something.

Ok, I was just curious.

I am sure the TPWD would have posted the areas restricted and to keep out of them if they deem there is a danger entering or exiting the areas...

Originally there was some sort of sign on the boom in Chaney. I forget what it said, maybe just warning of the boom. There is no danger to an angler or boat in these areas, the damage is done when it hangs on your motor and gets transported into other parts of the lake. This was a big problem in Birch and other areas several years ago. I mean, you can do whatever you want. That sort of disregard is one way this stuff gets into lakes to begin with.

I guess my point is that it's known this stuff is a problem. Why does someone have to tell us or post a sign for us to try to help the lake? There aren't signs everywhere saying not to throw trash in the lake...so do you throw trash in the lake? I doubt it.

Just a few years ago TPWD wasn't putting out booms so it's progress. Anglers can do their part too and shouldn't have to be told to help out. This is a relatively small part of the lake anyways. Chaney...well that was an entire creek with a ramp and rv park, they didn't have a choice but to let boat traffic flow through.

I do not litter acually, not my thing. Also, I do not intend on crossing any booms, was just curious why the experts are not saying to stay out and you are saying it, you must know more than those of us who are on the outside looking in.

Thanks for the info

I would bet that somewhere around 50% of boaters don't know what to look for or what salvania is. There's way more people that aren't on here going out on lakes with no clue
