for about the last 5-6 years my eyes can only handle about 5 hours of contacts. I have tried numerous contact brands without any better results. I am thinking about getting a pair of Cocoons to wear over my prescription glasses for when I am driving the boat. Does anyone have any experience with these glasses? And specifically, do they have any issues with keeping the wind out of your eyes when driving? Thanks,

I've used them for years. Just be sure and get the right size for your glasses frames.

I love mine. I had an older pair of fit/overs that made me look like a blind man, my new Cocoons don't do that and I feel that I save a bunch over prescription sun glasses. I put them on before I launch and take them off when I rig down the boat at the ramp, very conformable to wear.

I have been wearing fitovers for years. I tried the prescription sunglasses route and found it just too much of a hassle swapping back and forth. There are several different high-quality brands out there. Cocoons and Jonathan Paul. These fitovers can run up to about $75. If you want to go a much less expensive route, go to Walgreens or Wal-Mart and pick up some Solar Shields for about $20.

They are yellow lenses for site fishing on cloudy/rainy days. I don't wear them that often and can't recall the wind factor. I get the Solar Shields from Walgreens as mentioned above. I get the mediums and they have air slits at the top and bottom of frames. I hqve had zero problem with the wind but they used to chatter (60+ mph) and distort my vision. I put a strap on them that has a tension bead on it. When I make a run, I pull them tight to my head and that has fixed it.

I have been wearing Cocoons for 12 yrs and love them. Wind has never been an issue...they stay on well and block wind fairly well. And they are affordable enough to buy 1 pr for sunny days and another for cloudy, overcast days.

Ive been thinking about the prescription route for awhile. I honestly had never heard of cocoons until this post. How does the polarized lens work with fish finders? I know some will make them hard to read? I looked at the solar shields online but the pictures appeared to make them look bulkier. How do the two compare size wise?

If you go the Solar Shield route, you can pick them off of the rack, see how you like the weight and see how they look. If you want a high-quality polarized lens, then go with Cocoons or Jonathan Paul. Bass Pro Shops has a pretty good selection of Cocoons.
If you go the internet route, both websites have information on how to properly measure your glasses to get the best fitting fit-overs.
BTW - I have a yellow lens pair for cloudy mornings, a dark blue polarized lens pair for bright skies, and a brown polarized lens pair for normal days.

I picked up a pair of 'Night Drivers' from a truck stop for $20 and I love them. They fit over my glasses and they have yellow polarized lenses. I can see into the water and they eliminate glare, and they are great at blocking the wind.

I have 3 pair. Grey lens, Amber and copper. Copper are my favorite. Just get right size for your prescription frames. I really like mine. All of mine are slimline black frame. You will not regret getting them.

I have the clip ons and love them. Had the fit overs as well but drove me batty having all that on my ears.
