The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our ninth and last members only tournament of the season on Saturday October 14th at Lake Texoma. Very warm and very windy describe the conditions, and windy on Texoma can be dangerous. 26 boats came out to close the regular season. Fishing was tougher than expected, especially for bigger fish. In the end, Vince Burt and Mark Werner took home the win with a strong five fish limit that weighed 15.76 pounds. Jason and Lisa Bell took home big bass honors with a 4.51 largemouth. I apologize to our members for this being posted so late, but we had another event last week that took most or all of my time as you know if you have seen the Bass Fishing section. Here are full results and pictures from Texoma.
None of our regular Tournament Directors were able to attend so there was some swapping of roles. Thanks to Paul Villarreal who took over Club photographer duties. Paul is obviously a more creative and artistic person than the idiot that normally takes pictures (me). Here he is contemplating the beautiful day before we get started. (either that or he accidentally snapped a picture and didn't know it...)
I swapped in to the role of Official Weigher of the Fish. Once I figured out how to get the scales correctly zeroed (thank you Dale and Stan) we got down to business.
Here I pretend to know what I'm doing while David Simmons loads his fish in to the bag
Here's Paul's partner Joe Ruiz holding their two for 3.82
Bryce Glick weighed three for 4.92
Chris Atkinson and myself had only two keepers on the the day for 4.96. Obviously, Chris anticipated there would be more. Sorry to leave you empty handed partner...
Mike Kizer fished with John Bruner and they weighed three for 7.79 including Mike's first ever smallmouth.
Jason and Lisa Bell weighed three for 7.95, but their stringer included big bass of the tournament, a 4.51 hawg
