Well last week was a tough week for us fishing. The crappie just didn't want to open there mouth.Lake Palestine has been turning over. Make for a very tough bite to say the least.
Saturday was one of the worst day I have seen guiding. With the surface water brown with air bubbles every where. The fish were even sitting different on the brush piles. Fish were sitting in the heart of the pile, right down on the bottom. There were no fish above 2 foot off the bottom of any of the piles.
On every pile we went to and we went to 20+ piles. No matter what depth, they weren't having it. I don't think you could have gotten their mouth open with a jackhammer!
Tuesday was G.T. Nancy and Cole I don't think I've ever seen a little lady that fish as hard as she did. She told me she could hang with me, And I believe her. We had to pick at them but ended the day with 32 crappie.
Wednesday and Thursday was my friends Tom and Leslie and there friend Tyler from the Austin Area. Same thing Wednesday had to find clean water to get a bite end the day with 26 crappie. Thursday was different after knowing the fishing was slow we took Toms boats and loaded his graph with a few way points, it's always a boat full of laughs with these two.
Friday was James, Dustin and son Adrian on Tawakoni These guys drove from Hobbes, New Mexico to fish with me.
Adrian had us all rolling and laughing. His dad would miss a fish and Adrian would say " I get him! " and immediately he put his line down and catch and crappie! This happens three different times!
I had a great time with these guys. Thanks for driving the long haul to fish with me. Ended the day with 41 nice slabs.
Saturday was Blake and Jim they were in town from Wisconsin and called wanting to catch some Texas Slabs! After telling them the bite was tough, they said let's go for it.
After fishing what we could because of the wind. We kept on the move and managed 17 before they headed back to the airport.
Sunday was Greg he was back in town from Houston and wanted to do some fishing. With the strong north winds we decided to hit a little lake in the woods of East Texas.
It was still a hard weekend of fish but caught some good fish. Ended the day with a dozen or so.
Good news, fished Palestine today and caught some very good crappie. The turnover looks to be over. I believe it's going to get better now with the fall bite kicking in
Fish caught on BoneHead Tackle stump bugs
if you looking for a good tuff bait that will handle bite after bite give them a try.
Feel free to call to get on the slab sling action!
