It seems to me the primary reason people use O-rings is to extend the life of their soft plastic worm whem wacky rigging. My question is, do you see a difference (better or worse) in the hook up ratio when using an O-ring...with the hook being parallel to the worm with an O-ring and not perpendicular? Second, does the O-ring allow the worm more movement than the hook-thru method? Input and observations appreciated!

I have used the O rings with great results but now I use a 3 inch zip tie. I like it much better.

You can get the hook to be perpendicular by using 2 o-rings and crossing them.

I'm using the O-ring. It works....the best change I made was going to a weedless octopus style hook.....it doesn't miss.

I have been using the o-ring for several years now. Switched over to get more life from my senkos. I hate getting a bite, setting the hook, and coming back minus 1 senko. Especially when you are weeding thru some non-keepers. I do use mostly the Gammy wide gap finesse hook with week guard. Sometimes I switch over to a flick shake head to add weight. Although I haven't found one that I'm truly sold on yet. Most of the hooks are too light of a wire and hooks start bending. Coach

For Senkos, I use a piece of 3/8" electrical heat shrink tubing where I put the hook through and make my own weedless hooks that will handle BIG bass in cover. 4/0 Gammy Octopus hook 02414 with 7 strand stainless steel weedguard.

I use small piece of shrink tube also but I just put the hook under the tube kind of like an O-ring but wider. They also have a smaller size tube for finess worms. I use a bic lighter to shrink the tube to fit if necessary.

I hook my wacky worms directly into the bait at the egg sack. I bury the point so it is weedless and throw them around timber and brush. If there was an exposed hook, it would snag all of the brush adn timber, so this avoids that problem. You have to check to make sure it has not come out, like on hook sets and when it gets hung up, but otherwise, it is a GREAT way to go. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
