I'm looking at these two models to purchase new and there is about a $4000 difference it seems between the two. The only difference between the two is one boat is 19'11" with a 225 sho and the other is 20'11" with a 250 sho. I don't care about the extra horsepower. But how much of a difference is there in ride between the two boats, if any? If the ride is virtually the same, I see the savings on the ZX225 going towards an Ultrex, second power pole, and maybe a cover. What are yalls opinions?

the length on any boat brand will ride better and at this length their will be a noticeable difference. I guess it will depend on if the ride is that important to you or not. I would want the length but if you are not on big water during the wind you may not need it. Good luck and congrats on the new boat

I have a 21' zx250 padded deck and love it. Very smooth in rough water. Total upgrade from a 16'8". Longer boat will give a smoother ride and that's my 2 cents

I would tend to agree with you. I've had a zx250, a 20i and now a 17 zx200 I bought in Feb.
I'm not going to say they ride the same because they obviously don't. The I class rode the best of the 3. But you're the only one who can decide this. My fishing style has changed. I'm now more fair weather than before. I don't compete. A scheduled event won't force me to be on the water regardless of conditions. I get to pick my lake based on weather and wind. I fish alone the majority of the time. For me the 200 was a no brainer over the 190 but I saw a point of diminishing returns and stopped there. I added a 2nd pole, deck lights and upgraded the electronics to HDS units over the elite Ti's. but we each have to weigh our fishing style and needs. The next money I spend on my boat will be for an Ultrex. At that point the boat will have and do all I need of it.
You really didn't mention your fishing style, coangler needs, tournaments or no and typical lake size. All of those are considerations

I've had a ZX225 for the last 11 years. My dad has had a ZX250 with a 300HPDI for about 9 years. I have plenty of wheel time between both boats. His boat will ride better straight into big waves than mine. But mine has a way faster plane off. Also more nimble in really big waves with plenty of power. Both will get the job done in rough water.
I hate photobucket.

The brand is irrelevant. You are asking about a 21' boat vs. a 20' foot boat.
The front fishing platform is bigger on a 21 than a 20. Only you can decide if that matters.
Speed will be similar. 25 extra HP pushes the extra weight of the extra 1 foot to about the same speed as a 20' boat. The 21 might top out a little higher but the 20 will be more nimble. The smaller boat is more nimble and easier to fish in tight places. The bigger boat handles big water better, bigger waves and chop and will be able to be driven faster and more safely than a smaller boat in those same conditions.
Once I went up from a 19 to a 21 I said I would never go back. I still haven't. I would say the extra foot is worth $4k but I like to fish conditions others don't.

Had both and bigger is always better.... That's what she said.... All kidding aside in almost all conditions I'll take the bigger boat every time. Only drawback is trying to fit in tight places like heavy brush or timber. I remember years ago I went from a Champion 176 to a Triton TR-21. First time on the water with the Triton I felt like I was behind the wheel of an aircraft carrier. Back surgery pretty much made it difficult to get up and down from behind the wheel of a bass boat so now I have a 22'6" bay boat with a 102" beam, makes the Triton feel small by comparison yet I can still get it in places I need and have plenty of room for guest to fish as well. Get the 21' boat, and instead go with a Phoenix 721 for the same price as the zx250. Better built, better components, and two power pole blades. Not to mention fishes and rides much nicer.

I will definitely be fishing tournaments and focusing on central Texas lakes such as Canyon, LBJ, Travis, Belton, etc. I will venture to Amistad, Falcon, Toledo, Sam Rayburn, and Conroe from time to time but the majority of it will be in central Texas. I want a versitile boat that will make it easy to maneuver up on the bank and in backs of creeks but also allow me the comfort of fishing offshore.

I bought mine and put a 6 year factory warranty on the motor. I also upgraded the HDS on the console to a 12. I fish 3 guys in it all the time fun fishing. For the tournaments I fish it handles rough water extremely well. I fish all of the lakes you reference including a bunch on Travis.

I went in to Fun n sun in Hurst 2 years ago to buy a ZX225 and after talking to Brad and crew, I came out with a ZX250, added another power pole and another HDS unit (three in all) and not sorry for a minute about my purchase. Even with a 21' boat, none seem big enough to hold all of the stuff I take plus another fisherman in the back. I use fishing guides some also, and fish out of their boats. Rangers, Tritons, FX21s, and I would still put the ZX250 right up there with the best. When the waves are up at Fork, I don't worry about them because this boats takes them with ease. I would recommend the ZX250 all the way. Good Luck

Get the 250. Used market for a 225 boat sucks. You'll make the 4k back between resale $$$ and ease of selling.
