Found part if not all of my motor problem today, 6 month old fuel primer hose bought complete with hose and bulb came apart inside, the clear/white liner collapsed clogging the line. It kinda looks like it melted and some of it was like a gel. Primer bulb works fine, never thought to check the new hose until I found a soft spot when the motor shut down on me. I knew ethanol was bad on the old rubber hoses but I was not prepared for this! bang

Ethanol gas causing deterioration and gelling. Replace fuel hose from tank to engine and primer bulb with ethanol resistant line. Drain tank and replace with fresh gas. This may or may not totally solve your problem. There may be other areas of the fuel system that have been affected.

But that was supposed to be ethanol resistant! Atwood marine primer hose kit with the gray hose and primer bulb with 2 valves. I already have the good automotive fuel line from the tank to the filter/separator. This line went from the filter to the outboard. I just finished replacing this line with the good automotive fuel line. I hope this will take care of the problems I have been having, I am surprised it even ran like that. ..

"Ethanol resistant", not " Ethanol Proof".

Keep fresh fuel and replace all fuel lines every 2 years. With ethanol, it literally is "pay me now, or pay me later" world.

Thanks! I had replaced all the lines including this one less than a year ago, always do water pump and fuel lines every 2 years, that is why I was surprised. But I used automotive fuel line everywhere except for this line since it was a pre-made 'marine' fuel line. Lesson learned!

Question on the primer bulb.

I have yet to ever use mine on my Yamaha f150. Do I even need it?

Do you have an electric fuel pump?

Well..they recommend that you pump it hard each time. I rarely do either. Mine stays firm, but I fish near everyday...unless the weather is bad. It does prevent a vapor lock condition in the summer.

D0 not use standard automotive black fuel line on the fuel intake side. You must use a line that will not collapse under a vacuum. The vacuum is increased when you install a water separator-fuel filter. I am also seeing fuel filters, with what looks like black sand in them? Use this:

Have ran black automotive fuel line from primer bulb to inlet for years on 2005 Opti 200L and have not had any issues.

I have had the same problem with that Attwood gray hose. I now buy a 25' roll of good fuel hose, and just replace the whole hose every 2 to 3 years. Much cheaper than constantly buying cheap Attwood hoses. One time investment on small stainless steel hose clamps.
