At the end of the fast, you can do an advertised cleanse but I found out that the water does a pretty good job anyways.

I can see where this would be inexpensive. Again it goes back the individual needs too. Personally I am hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) and I have to eat something every 2-3 hours or I crash. I shoot for 6-8 "meals" per day. That 1x/year I do a cleanse I discipline everything I eat for the 10 days to be all natural - mainly fruits, vegetable, and my protein sources are typically venison and fish.

Day 1 - not too bad. Took 1 capsule before bed last night. Drank lots of water yesterday preparing for the journey. Woke up this morning and had 3 BMs before 9:30. Will spare you the details except to say that none were violent.......yet.

Very mild cramping twice. Other than that, I feel pretty good. House smells like sh_t.

Health Benefits of Cleansing

Mayo Clinic article

I have not and would not do the colonic described in the Mayo article. I have known some folks who have and had some negative side effects. Personally as stated earlier in the thread I do it 1x/year typically after the holidays and only with natural ingredients.

Day 2 in the books. Easy day. No emergencies. I upped the dose to 2 capsules tonight. Tomorrow should be fun.

Absolutely agree. Should always take personal health into account before changing your diet. In some cases, I'd recommend talking to a doctor or dietician beforehand.

Days 3 & 4 are relatively routine but I will say that I am going more than usual. I've lost 3.5lbs and feel pretty good.

Ever notice how all the articles lauding the benefits of cleansing are from sources selling cleansing products?

The Mayo Clinic article cited does not have ads or push product.

The other is from Natural Wellness dot com and they do sell banner ads and product. The article there however was written by a Chiropractor and provides good insight and does not mention commercial product involvement in the process.

one cup of coffee and mine gets cleansed every morning. I see no need for this. It is just another gimmick.

Glad that works for you. Some of us are not so lucky.

Did you actually read these articles?

Not only does the Mayo Clinic article not push cleansing products, it specifically states that cleansing is unnecessary and goes on to list out many of the dangers of the process.

And the Natural Wellness article clearly outlines a three step process using three specific products. In the description of the process steps, there are links to the shopping page where you can go to buy the three products. These are not simply banner ads. These are the specific products recommended in the article which supposedly offer the benefits listed in said article.

Yes I read the articles. I do not post in this section without thought or haphazardly. I work in healthcare directly. I have worked with Mayo clinic directly and trust their research. The articles were 2 references. As stated earlier in the thread and the original question asked was regarding any personal experience with cleansing. It is not for everyone but for those of us who have done it under care of a registered dietitian and/or physician it can have positive benefit. Mine is one perspective and I do a cleanse 1x/year without any artificial products being ingested.
