I've had a boat I almost finished rebuilding and then traded that had a seacast transom and it looked super solid. From what I've heard, people love it. VERY solid, if anything the only problem I've heard is that it's so solid that if the rest of your boat around where you poured is soft, it'll then tear that out too. Super solid stuff. Make sure you install correctly and take your time, I know a member on the forum who hadn't sealed where he was pouring well enough and poured a bunch into his bilge area that leaked out.

I think T-racer may have been talking about me. I poured mine about a year ago but I used Arjay ceramic pourable transom. This is the second boat that I have done and they both came out solid as a rock. The only hard part is removing the old wood. If you don't properly cover any hole, it will leak out and mine was about 2 inches thick in the bilge. Took me weeks with a hammer and chisel to remove most of it so I really know how solid it will get! If you have any specific questions send me a PM and I'll give you my number.

Instead of a tru cap that overlaps and riveted on both sides like Most Aluminum Deep Vs this Turd has the inner transom wall/splash well wall folded over then riveted on the outside so I have to drill the rivets and either Fold it Up or cut it off - I couldn't bend it much so I had to cut it off. Once the lifting ring bolt comes in I'll pull the motor and cut off the cap across where motor sits. I don't want to cut the Slanted parts so I gotta figure out a pourable transom soution BUT the transom has no bottom to it. Looking from underneath from the Bilge you see Plywood - 2 layers of 3/4" and a layer of 1/2". It goes straight across about top 1/3 of the transducer plate leaving about 4" of the deepest part of the V for Bilge area.. so I have to figure out how to close it off for a Pour. bang

If I can't figure out how to seal it up for a pour and cut the caps all the way around and do wood - any recommendations on somewhere to get caps welded back on?

Whatever you use, remember to take into consideration the weight of 7-10 gallons of the stuff. It is pretty heavy and trust me you do not want to let it leak into the bottom of the boat. The Arjay starts to harden in 15-20 minutes. If I were doing it, I'd mix a gallon or two and pour so it will be less weight then start mixing the rest so it will be ready to pour about the time the first layer starts to harden and will hopefully bonds to the metal to support the weight and it should still be tacky enough that the 2nd pour bonds with the first pour so it becomes one solid piece.

Use metal shingles or something to wedge into the opening to work as a funnel and be sure to use a rubber mallet to tap the outside to remove any air bubbles. A second pair of hands and probably a step stool will make it much easier.

That looks pretty thick. How many gallons did you end up calculating it to take?

I'm figuring 8 gallons? ordered 10 gallons. Some have said it won't work with Aluminum but I found several threads on iboats.com n other forums where guys have used it in Aluminum boats. I took 2 sections of 1" aluminum square tubing and screwed them together with 3m 5200 between them and riveted them in the bottom of the transom to pour on top of.

Went with Arjay 6011 from ProMarine Supplies. Stage 1 poured today. I'll pour Stage II tomorrow. I emailed Arjay and asked if it could be poured over foam - they said as long as Acetone doesn't eat the foam it'll work. So I sprayed some Loctite Brand Spray Foam in a cup and let it cure overnite then poured Acetone on it- held up. I sprayed Loctite Spray Foam in an Aluminum tamale pot , let it sit overnite and poured a Gallon of Arjay over it the next day- then cut it in half the following day. Looked good to me, So I used Loctite Spray Foam to seal off areas I couldn't reach to put tape. I used 2 layers of duct foil tape to seal off holes like engine mounting bolts and drain tube holes. I poured with all the thru bolts installed so it wouldn't bulge the transom.
