I have been seeing a lot of new plants around the lake in many places around the shore, it has big leaves and some has a few flowers, any ideas?
I hope its not what they were trying to control in chainy.
Thanks
Rodney

Same thing, pull it up by the roots and/or call TP&W. Stuff spreads like fire ants.

Hopefully it was Hyacinth, as GIG'EM said pull it out... If we have a cold winter, it will beat it back for a while..
It was thick in 2011, 2 hard winters in a row, took it down real good all over East Texas.

Stuff got so bad at Steinhagen one time it choked off the big part of the lake below the bridge. Haven't been by in awhile but Chaney was rope off at one time while they treated it. Stuff is really hard to eradicate once it takes hold. Almost as bad as sand bass, lol.

Same stuff up in birch. Fished the mad dog tournament last month and big clumps of it floating across the boat lane.

It is Hyacinth with big waxy leaves and purple flowers. It is an invasive species. It choked out the north end of Pines and Monticello pretty bad and they sprayed everything up there to kill it. Fork isn't nearly that bad, and the deeper helps. The stuff in Chaney was Giant Salvinia, a feathery backed tiny leaf that groups up into a dense colony. They look nothing alike.

How big is that stuff? Or is that a small gator in the pic.

It is a small gator. The individual leaves on the Giant Salvinia are 1/2 - 1.5 inches long & Oblong shaped.
