1983 350V w/ 200 Mercury Black Max

I've already started the refurb and makeover process.....

I found a weak spot on the front deck and refiberglassed it.

New seats from boatseats.com.....

Began adding a custom deck exstention that will have two storage compartments.

The gelcoat is near non existent, so im going to wrap her to protect what's left...

Also bought a 80lb motorguide 24vlt TM and two HDS7s w/Structure scan.

Future plans are new gauge panel, LED running lights for the bow, LED deck lights.

I've always wanted a Ranger and I'm extremely happy that my first,
though it's old, boat is a Ranger!

nice refurb job....believe that boat is rated for a 150 hp so there's going to be some tournaments you can't fish.....boat is going to be fast but probably a little squirrelly to drive....

Excellent job Evan! I owned a 350V and a 360V Ranger. Those older Rangers were built like tanks.

Me and a buddy of mine put a 13.61 SAL in the livewell of my 360 at Fork in a tourney in 1987.

It wasn't mine tho!! realmad

Go all the way Evan and put you a Sea Star hydraulic steering on it. You won't be sorry with that 200 on there. They tug pretty hard with that cable steering especially one that old. Good job restoring.

The title says 200hp, but the cowel says 150.....
I'm not really sure which is accurate. How can I really find out?

I can tell you that is not the original motor but the serial # will be your friend as to the HP. I would be surprised that someone would go over rated on a boat that old.

real easy way to tell.....if that boat runs 55-60 mph and no chinewalking,it's a 150 hp.....if the boat runs 65-70 mph and got to really drive it to prevent the chine walking,it's a 200 hp....200 hp also have a higher pitch "howl" to them......

That ole' 350 is a great boat. My partner had one back in the 80'. Ran great with a standard Merc 150. I can't see it clear enough, but the cowling looks like it may be an XR2 150, and they were sold back in 83, so it could be the original motor. As said above, just check the serial numbers the know for sure. Also, be on the hunt for a used Sea Star hydraulic steering system. It will make it much more fun to drive, and safer. Before you put carpet back down, you may consider a recessed foot petal tray as well. That's going to be a great project once you're done! Have fun.

Try this website using your serial # to find year and HP.
