10-7-17 at 2:35 in the afternoon. We where sitting on a tree in 18 fow and only 300 yards from the ramp. My fishing partner caught 2 small ones right off the bat using minnows. I was using a jig and got hung up so I grabbed an old pole that was rigged for minnows. I figured I would try a minnow since he had got 2 real fast. Using 8lb line on a old zebco I caught this big (for me) SURPRISE! We were lucky to get the fish in the boat, I had forgot the net. After letting the fish wear it self out on 2 long runs, I finally got it off the bottom and we saw it was a large bass and the tension grew. We had to try to grab the fish by the lip. Well it jumped when we tried to grab it and the line broke. My partner grabbed the fish and pinned to the boat as I was reaching for the fish as well. We both had our hands on it and flipped it up in to the boat and it landed head first in the minnow bucket. I had to call the wife back at fish camp to bring a tape to measure the fish and her good camera. I had only stuff to measure a crappie. Don't know how much it weighed, but it was 25 inches long. After several photos and oohs and Awes. We let the fish return to its spot to bite again. We had only fished for 30 minutes but both agreed it was time to go celebrate!!!

NIIIIIIICE! My 22.5 post spawn was 6.5 lbs so wouldn't be too far to say 7.25-8.5 depending on belly and girth.

Hey Otis,

Your fishing partner was my cousin Jacob.
He sent me that pic over the weekend.
He told me about Lake Fork and your boat.
I told him I got to get in on some of that action.
Do you know any good crappie spots out there?

Jimmy
