My back up camera is useless with a boat hooked up. I added auxiliary back up lights under the bumper on my Tundra and they help. Plus I replaced factory back up bulbs with leds.

You mean the light from the screen in the truck? You should be able to adjust the brightness of the instrument cluster which should also dim the screen and audio buttons etc.

I don't know about the GM's but my ram has a button that turns the screen off, you might look for one.

There is a dimmer control over by the headlight knob that will allow you to dim the dash/instrument panel lights so it shouldn't bother you.

There is a technical bulletin from GM that updates the software to reduce the brightness level of the rear cam display.
The bulletin number is: #17-na-269
