Seems pretty straightforward. Any snags I should anticipate?

Get you a good hand held cross cut saw for cutting in around the bottom of the door jambs so your can slide the flooring under the door jam trimming. Smaller the better as in about 12" long x 2" wide with an offset handle.

Much easier using the vibrating multi tool and you can cut 6" both sides of the jambs.

As far as snags, there can be some if you don't have the right tools and your slab isn't properly prepped.

Tape is your friend. Tape together each new row as you go.

You will need a table saw for when you get across the room to the opposite wall. Rip a piece to fit the gap left from the last full piece.

Be sure and cut the pieces at the start of the second and third rows so that the seams will be offset, then start row 4 with a full piece etc...

As with everything, PREPARATION IS KEY
Make sure the subfloor level in every place and every room where where you'll be installing the flooring.

I once helped install laminate flooring on a house. They were having hard time getting the pieces to stay flush after being connected.

The reason was that every room had dips and slants.
After using floor leveler, they boards tapped in with ease.

Excellent advice so far....
Also, it's very important to leave the recommended spacing around all walls for whatever material you're using

Do as grout-scout suggested...Use a vibrating multi tool to cut the door jambs. Harbor Freight..under 30.00

anyone have experience with a laminate floor shear/cutter, seems to be a time saver instead of cutting each piece on table saw, but the reviews are mixed, wonder if they are available as rental ?

if a true wood floor I would give it a 50% chance of being useful. pergo style (plastic laminate on top) I give it a zero of being useful, chipping would be my concern, at the cut.

miter box and good skill saw (porter cable 6 1/2" trim saw) is easiest. good sawhorse to cut on and get r done!

be sure to center the room. measure corner to corner to check square, split the difference and cut accordingly for the start course. run out 3-4 pcs and stairstep as you lay, much easier to keep flat and joints spaced right.

I did this for an ot'r. cut everything on a dewalt compound miter box and porter cable 7 1/4".

A professional install shouldn't have a pattern.

I was thinking it, but I wasn't gonna say it. Would sure make life easier if we could full board it on every row. roflmao

I've been using a Bullet brand cutter for several years now & absolutely love it! Cutting laminate & engineered wood is a breeze & the end is sharp & clean!

thought Id throw in my .02 cents on this saw. I liked it, worked well, made all the rip cuts & cross cuts I needed, I guess its a lot like a tile cutter, but for wood, etc. I paid 145 on Amazon and bought a couple extra blades, after approx 1500 sq ft the blade still cuts fine. 4 1/2" blade, also you can hook a vacumm to it & that cuts down on dust by 75% or more

Dont go crazy with the hammer when you are pulling the pices together. It will leave little ridges if you do. Also, if the pieces dont go together easily, dont force them, take it apart and see why it isnt going together. After. A few beers, this gets harder to do.
