Day started off great. Fish on every pile eating my new jigs from Skip. We had 4 good keepers in 30 minutes of fishing. All 11 inches or bigger. Then an alarm went off on the boat. Motor wasn't peeing. Probably only has 40-50 hours on it but it is a 2012 200 Mercury ProXS. I guess the water pump went out.

What a shame. We were so excited because we had finally caught them on fire like we used to do when we had a good day. On the water at 7am and cleaning fish at 9am. SUCKS! No telling what this is gonna cost. realmad

Check a few things first before going to a dealer. . . twice I have had to run water or a piece of wire up the hose to clean it out, mud-dobbers or spiders could be the cause, check that out first. Water pumps don't go out all at once very often, the ears break off and it pumps less but not complete failure, especially on a motor that new.

I told my boss I wouldn't be in today, I got my arm in a cast!!!

I have spent most of my life fishing. . . the rest I've just wasted.

It was working when we first took off so it wouldn't be dirt dobbers I don't think. It could have sucked sonething up in it when I picked my wife up on shore. Anyway I have a mechanic going to look at it Tuesday. Going to have him change the impeller and lower unit oil and check it out.

one time I had a 3 cylinder , 40 hp mercury that nobody could seem to figure out. it would idle fine and rev fine, but when it was out in the lake, it just wouldnt go fast. I took the cover off and noticed that it felt heavy. The cover has an intricate duct system in it, that seals very well, and allows air to be pulled from only one section in the top back. I started to take the duct apart inside the cover and was shocked at how much mud was in it. There had to be 10 pounds of mud dauber mud nests in it. There was a pile of mud on the floor After I cleaned it. After I got the obstructions of mud out, the motor ran like a scared rabbit. Those mud daubers can cause alot of headaches. At least the little bastards dont bite. ha

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I will be taking it to the mechanic Tuesday while I work. I am way better at what I do than I ever would be as a mechanic. I learned a lesson long ago about taking time off work to fix a pickup. Wound up having to take it to the mechanic anyway so I should have stayed and worked.

If the alarm went off, it's not a blocked p hole. P hole can be blocked and water still gets to the engine. If temp alarm went off, you have a major blackage or broken impeller. Not too hard to fix though , so shouldn't cost you too much!

Jacob, you are correct. I glossed over that. If the alarm went off, theni it's not just clogged at the p hole.

The impeller probably has small stress cracks. It should only cost $200 or so to get it replaced and lower unit oil changed.
