Hi group - I was out at the lake and blew my lower unit. I didnt hit anything, so I am guessing its just old age. It is a 2001 Mercury 2 stroke 225 HP Motor. The repair shop quoted me 3k, but I think it should be a little cheaper. What are the going rates to have a lower unit completly replaced for my motor?

Anglers on TFF or SEI have complete lowers for about 900.00.

Thanks group! Think I will pull my boat out of this shop and look for a cheaper option. Anglers is over 50% cheaper but a little drive for me. worth it to save around $1800!
@Boatman025 - The title shows year of 2000 but model of 2001.

I don't know on mercs but on Yamaha it's easy to swap lowers, sei aftermarket for $845 plus tax.
