anyone now how to title a motor that has never had a title? came from california boat is registered in tx but motor came from california and there they do not title motors.

I know my Merc. never had a title here in Tx. Once the engine was paid off, the lender sends proof it was pd in full and that's it.

just have them run the number and they will title if one was never issued. I did a 1957 motor a few years ago .

Dont mean to hijack but I'm in same situation 11ft flat-bottom 15 hp mercury.

Only thing I know of is applying for an abandoned motor title. Look it up on TP&W web site.

if it falls before mandatory title they will just issue .

Texas is money grabbing state where ever they can. Most of the people that work in title office will make you jump thru hoops. Don't like the answer you get go to next closest office and you will get another answer.

Thanks guys The motor is a 1985 95 hp Yamaha VRO and it runs great 45 mph with two people in the boat

was it purchased by you from an owner in ca.?. a lot of time what happens is folks will title an register the boat an because they get the advice that when was the last time a game warden checked the serial number on your motor they don't pay the taxes an registration on the motor to get it legal. a lot of the stuff on craigs list is this way either no titles or the title is not in the sellers name which makes it a pain to get it titled.

I bought the boat and motor from an individual who got it from his aunt in cal. the boat had ca numbers on it and the owner just got the title to the hull in his name supposedly. I ran the numbers on the boat with the cal dept of motor vehicles and it was registerd under that number. and the title to the hull was clear.

the hull does have a clear texas title it is in my name as well as the tx registration
