Have a tournament on Tawakoni this coming weekend and have struggled to put a single keeper in the boat in the past 2 trips. From what I've heard, shallow is the key to that lake. Seems as though the water level has stabilized as well. There anyone that can offer advice on types of areas to concentrate on, types of baits, etc.... Not looking for your honey holes, just something to help get me pointed in the right direction. Thanks in advance

Pick up a spinnerbait and get to work. When you stick a fish or two slow down and work that area with a flipping bait. Throw a C-Rig on the main lake points, regardless of depth and cover.

Great, thx. I don't spend much time throwing a spinnerbait this time of year but will definitely give it a shot. I think my big issue is that I've been spending too much time in deep water.

You can substitute a square bill or chatterbait for a spinnerbait, I just like a spinnerbait. The big thing is that you need to cover some water until you get bit.
And, if you are spending time in water deeper than about 3', your wasting your time.

Flipping the flooded willows on most of the points as well as flipping docks should get you bit as well.

Thanks for your replies Txduckhunter and Mark. Spent all day out there and again a giant goose egg. Fished some really good looking water too. Was equivalent to fishing g in my bath tub though. I guess I will just have to show up Saturday morning and hope for the best. Maybe this cool front will help things out a bit. Thanks again

Two places I always catch'em is the back of Rabbit Cove and flipping the willows out front of the state park ramp. Two best baits were a pumpkin/green rage craw T-rig and a 4" Grande Bass watermelon/green. Early in the back of Rabbit you can catch'em on a fluke. Go past the marina and fish the little cuts on the right and then move over to the left side where you can find 3-4' FOW and flip the bushes. I flip the edges and back about 4-5 feet of the flooded willows in the state park. Use a 3/16 weight on a T-rig with 14-17 lb. line. After you catch the first one you will be able to pin point how far back they are from the edge. Good luck

Look for areas that have 10-20 bushes instead of 100's. Flip a full size green pumpkin brush hog I promise you some good bites. If that doesn't work then flip docks
The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

Marina in Rabbit Cove, all day just go in circles, Ned rig and drop shot on docks, work the concrete slab extensively, brush hog in the timber. You could make a day of it without ever turning your big motor on.

Also throwing a frog in the tons of flooded vegetation out there can get you some bites.

Ok folks I really appreciate all the input. Hopefully with all this, myself or anyone reading this for that matter can put something together with this info and have a great day on the water. I need to get the Tawakoni bad taste out of my mouth so to speak. Will post an update after Saturdays weigh in. Thx again yall
