what is your take on this engine? i have heard for a while these were prone to blowing up. anyone have any further information on what to look for? i have read where it was the 3.3 liter blocks primarily. my brain is fuzzy from trying to process all of the information. anyone have any insight?

they are good motors as long as they are serviced properly all the filters need to be changed every 100 hrs . most of the time guys run them til they wont run properly an the engine has a cylinder goes down. the gen 2s seem to have a better rep but the key to keeping them running is servicing the filters.

ssmith pretty much told you all you need to know. Series 2 are better. Service every 100 hours is CRUCIAL. Personally... I wouldn't ever touch one. I know some people have had good luck. And I'm glad for them, I hope they last thousands of hours for them. But just way to many Yamipops out there... Nope. Not for me.

there is as many opti pops as yamipops when you take about 30% of the fuel an oil out of a 2 stroke motor it better have good clean fresh fuel an oil to keep them running.
