Lost 5 and landed 2... One of those kind of days on the water!

Cool looking river! Got to agree w/above^^^. Texas rigged plastics with hook buried in the bait equals a more aggressive hook set.

Tighten the drag down some, you have a lighter action rod than is needed at times to run the hook through the plastic and your drag is only hurting on the hookset. You can ease off after to play them out if you want, but it looks like about 12 lb test, you should be good to crank it down and bring them home.

Honestly I didn't do anything different than I normally do. Almost always pin my plastics, especially on this river. Have never lost this many fish in 1 hour! I think I started the day off with the lack of patients from not being able to fish the prior day due to weather and having the work week coming up ahead and just wanting to get some bass in the boat which ultimately lead to setting the hook too soon and losing too many bass! Which brings up a good question, does anyone else have days like these? Maybe not losing this many but perhaps the lack of patience costing you some big bass?

I do agree with the drag. On the one where I was reeling it a lot was because my drag was too lose and there was a 5lb bass at the end of the line so I was trying to keep up with it and he blew up out of the water and spit the hook out before I had a chance to do anything, I knew I had a bad hook set on him. I shy away from trusting my rod due to how pricey they are nowadays and therefor keep my drag less than my rod can handle. Just a mind thing I need to work on for sure!
