HEADLINES: August 27, 2017
The Marlin Chronicles will be coming out soon in theatres near you. JC was seen on the red carpet promoting his new movie about the life and times of a Marlin Fisherman. Fish Report Boy Screamed: Stop, Stop all this stuff about JC, its all lies, the lil [censored] thinks he is god. Movie, Stand up Comedian, Book Author, Song Writer its all lies, lies, and more lies. These idiots Chris and Darrel all they do is talk about JC, well I am here to tell everyone the truth, JC is a legend in his own mind!!! Fish Report Boy whispered: Look I will probably get fired for these comments, JC is the Idi Amin Dada of fishing, who was known as the 'Butcher of Alaska' for his brutal, despotic rule in Alaska whilst president of Salmon fishing in the 1970s, Estimates for the number of Salmon who were either killed, tortured, or imprisoned vary from 100,000 to half a million. Fish Report Boy went on to say this the Butcher has no mercy on any fish, not even a Bluegill. Around, all the bait and Tackle stores in Alaska JC is called the Colonel Gaddafi of Trout Fishing. Fish Report Screamed: Dont anyone get it, Dont anyone care!!!!
JC,s LEGEND and LIES will continue next week!!!

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: Well, basically hot and humid and its pretty typical this time of year. Luckily we have not had any storms to deal with and we are keeping our fingers crossed that we get through the year without any major storms to hit us. Highs are in ladder 90,s to 100 with pretty high humidity numbers about everyday.

WATER: Pretty much like last week Well the water has been warming up some and we expect it to continue to stay about how it is over the next few days. It has had an effect on the fishing it seems when the water cools some we are seeing more action.
Please check out the Tempbreak map link below to get a good idea on water temperatures.
http://www.tempbreak.com/index.php?&cwregion=cb

BILLFISH: The Blue Marlin fishing has slowed some compared to what it was over the last month. There was only a few Blues caught over this last week and one of them was a 150lb fish our boats caught. The Striped Marlin fishing has been still pretty good with some decent number throughout the fishing grounds. If you use ballyhoo, lures and live bait for the Stripers you will most likely land some fish. The hot spots for Marlin about 4 to 9 miles offshore up and around the Horseshoe to Jamie Banks, the Margarita area and Los Arcos near Todo Santos. The Sailfish bite has slowed as the Striped Marlin was just OK over this past week.

DORADO: The Dorado fishing was better this past week and we are hoping it gets better with the water temperatures normal but we sure dont need any of that green algae bloom which will really slows the bite down. I am thinking that this warm water we have in the area is just too much for them and they are staying away. We havent seen really too much good Dorado action all year as it has been pretty much hit and miss but over last 2 weeks, but its starting to kick into gear big time. Lots of the fish are small but there is some big ones lurking around always which makes for some great action.

SWORDFISH: Hasn't heard of any caught this week.

WAHOO: The Wahoo fishing has slowed over the past week with really not the numbers we were seeing but still ok.

TUNA: The Tuna have been very hard to find this past week and when you do find them most are football size fish, with lots of work for the big Tuna. The Tuna have been moving up north towards the Finger Bank, so it is one heck of a boat ride to get to them .The Tuna have been hard to catch actually with most fish hitting king busters, but the bigger Tuna are biting live bait and lures.

INSHORE: The inshore fishing has just been ok with most of the action due to Roosterfish and they have been some decent size fish at 25 to 35lbs has been normal. There has been some good Amberjack action reported using iron. Small Tuna on sardines has been good inshore if you can find the sardines. From Grey Rock to the Pump House has been the area for decent Tuna and even Sailfish action using ballyhoo. Some small Dorado every once in a while have been landed.
It might be worth grabbing a Panga and going out for a 5 hour excursion to see what happens inshore.

JC,s Baja Tuna Salad Recipe!!!
Tuna Salad with Fresh Tuna
Makes about 2 cups of salad
2 5-ounce cans water-packed tuna fish
2 to 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 rib celery, diced small
1 small shallot or 1/4 red onion, diced small
1 tablespoon lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
1 tablespoon pickle relish, optional
Salt and pepper
Add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, celery, shallot, lemon juice, pickle relish (if using), a sprinkle of salt, and a few cracks of fresh black pepper to the tuna fish. Stir with a fork to combine, breaking up any large chunks of tuna fish as you go. Add more mayo if you'd like smoother, creamier tuna salad. Taste and add more of any of the ingredients to taste.
Use immediately or store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Tuna Salad Variations
Use yogurt instead of mayo for a lighter salad.
Use extra-virgin olive oil instead of mayo for a looser salad.
Use canned salmon, smoked trout, or leftover chicken in place of the tuna.
Add diced apples, raisins, or dried fruit to the basic recipe.
Add diced fennel, shredded cabbage, diced cucumbers, or any other crunchy vegetable.
Add a dash of curry powder, dukkah, harissa, chopped fresh herbs, or any other spice mix in your cupboard.
Tuna and mayo it's as simple as you can get, and a perfectly acceptable lunch.

JC,s Baja Tuna Linguine!!
Marinating tuna and chopped tomatoes in wine, lemon zest and olive oil for an hour makes a fresh, simple pasta sauce.

INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons pine nuts
1 pound tuna steak, cut into 1/2-inch dice
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
1/2 pound cherry tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1/4 cup coarsely chopped fennel fronds
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 pound linguine
Salt and freshly ground pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a small skillet, toast the pine nuts over moderate heat until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl. Add the tuna, wine and lemon zest, 1/2 cup of the cherry tomatoes and 2 tablespoons each of the olive oil and fennel fronds. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
2. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large, deep skillet. Add the crushed red pepper and the remaining cherry tomatoes and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is flavorful, about 10 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, cook the linguine in boiling salted water until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the linguine.
4. Add the tuna mixture and the remaining 2 tablespoons of fennel fronds to the skillet and cook over low heat, stirring just until the tuna starts to whiten, about 1 1/2 minutes. Remove the skillet from the heat. Add the linguine and the reserved pasta cooking water and toss well. Season with salt and pepper and serve at once.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://www.jcsportfishing.com http://youtu.be/tSXN6pifQyQ
