Hey guys!
Me and a few guys from my church are wanting to head down to Houston to help those in need. If you want to help, but have obligations here, you could help by letting us borrow your boat. Please PM me if you are interested. If your sketched out, I could put a large deposit down to ensure you get your boat back.

Lots here posting they want to go and help but aren't really sure if it's safe. Of course it isn't but if a large group get together and go together it would be a lot safer. I've seen boats doing rescues that are larger than bass boats. The chance of tearing up your prop is there for sure, but again being in a group with other boats if that happens would be better than solo. Hopefully some of y'all can get together and go with a boat, DPS and authorities posted early they wouldn't turn away anyone else with a boat trying to help. Apparently some boats were being told to turn around, but that issue was addressed.
It's not safe for rescuers or boats but this thing isn't going away without people helping. With the added rain today an estimated 10,000 may need help. Hop on one of the rescue channels and listen to the calls for help, sick kids, 2 week old babies, woman in labor all calling for help. It's terrible, but mixed in are bad people too, thieves and looters.
I'm heading to San Antonio Thursday to help with the evacuees at the shelter. If you can't help with rescuing lots of other places need help from Rock Port to Houston and everywhere in between.

Odds are high your going to tear up a prop at the minimum. My son and nephew are both down there with boats equipped with SD motors, they will need to re-prop when they get home but they are good with it. There is a TON of debris in the water that is floating, including cars, and lots of things that you would never normally consider a hazard - signs, fire hydrants, guide cables, etc... The current is a huge issue at play as well. If you don't know what your doing and how to handle a boat, please be careful and don't add to an already overwhelmed situation. If you go, take plenty of lifejackets, rope, fuel, and water.

A front mounted ma deuce would make a nice addition too. I'm sure a few rounds sent downrange would all but eliminate the thugs shooting at rescue boats.

There really is already thousands of boats down here, some having trouble even having a place to launch due to all of the other trailers parked. Water is receding in many areas, but yes there is still some really bad areas.
I've seen bass boats, jon boats, jet boats, jet skis, ski boats, wakeboard boats, air boats, muddevils, kayaks, inflatable boats, bay boats....

I was just letting yall know what I've seen first hand down here. There ARE areas that still need boats bad. Just see if you can get as much information as possible as to the areas and towns that actually need it. You can head to houston and be on one side where there are plenty of boats in the area and the water is receding and the real area where they need your boat is 50 miles the opposite side of town. Alot of people are envisioning the entire city under water, and it's not like that. There are localized flooded areas you'll need to get to.

It did seem to me like that....I apologize too. I do agree that a cluster of boats in an area that doesn't really need them would be a hendrence. I wish I had a boat that could sustain concrete abuse. If I did I'd have it down there. As it is, I will certainly assist with anyone that needs a helping hand on their boats. I have a house 15 minutes down the intercoastal from Galveston to catch zzzzz's.

For what it's worth, Beaumont area is flooding bad. Some of my family got out today and still could only get out by boat. Lots more rain to come. Rescues will be needed in that area as well.

Whatever you take down there don't plan on bringing it back in the same condition. I have law enforcement buddies and civilian buddies down there right now and my law enforcement friends said the same thing as prior post. There are literally 1000's of boats. My civilian buddies couldn't get anything working as far as rescues today. The areas REALLY in need have such swift water they are not letting anyone but air boats and very large HP boats launch. I think if you want to help from what I have heard they need supplies. I would be down there in a boat in a split second if I thought I could be of assistance.

I was down there all day Monday and it's true, don't plan on bringing your boat back in the same condition. I'll have to re-prop for sure. Mine took a beating down there. It was totally worth it though. Good luck if you head out and be safe. There are a lot of really great people offering help. Keep in mind that not all of them understand proper boating rules though.

Worked Spring Creek and Woodlands all yesterday and into the night with a couple mud boats clearing neighborhood and apartments and at times even those boats struggled to get through all this concrete. There are thousands of boats on standby chomping at the bit to help if you're headed down with a boat contact a fire station they've been coordinating all the 911'calls that need rescues we worked with the Needham Fire Station but water is receding and the floods are headed South and creating havoc and disaster in its path. If you're well organized and have a plan you're more than likely be able to help rescue those who need help. But if you blindly go down you'll end up in giant lines of boats sitting idle. Not trying to sound like a prick or anything I'd much rather anybody and everybody capable of helping down in Houston helping. Was amazing to see our Nation come together from all over Texas and neighboring states In the face of disaster and work together. This disaster will take a huge effort not only in rescue but the aftermath as well to overcome. Many will not be able to return for sometime and many have nothing to return to. Those having issue with any looting it's been very localized and is not what I had witnessed from those needing help.
