So I have a few questions that I'm hoping people we be so kind to help with. Fork has been on my bucket list & this is the year I will make it happen. I did the Big Bass Splash a few years ago on Kentucky Lake & had a blast. So I decided to try the Fork Splash this year. For me its just about trying to have some fun fishing & if I get lucky with a big bite that would be a bonus. I've read about people who want to stay far away. Also read about the crazy people that will be on the lake. I get it & respect the way they feel. Its a done deal & my wife & I are coming so I'm looking for any positive info I can get. So with that said.....

I bought the boat lanes chip but am still nervous about all the wood. So my plan is to pick an area & not move around much & hope for the best. What areas will be crowded the worst & I should try to avoid? Is it difficult to find parking at the ramps? What are the best ramps to use and/or avoid? If I do need to use any of the boat lanes how safe are they & are they fairly easy to follow? Thanks for any help, info, or advice on this.

Just about everything you heard or read is true, it's a circus. So if you're prepared for that come on down. Hopefully you already have lodging accommodations, if not you'll probably have to look at either Sulphur Springs or Quitman. Based on your concerns about boat lanes I would consider launching at the hwy. 154 public ramp and plan on getting there early. That part of the lake on either side of 154 has marked boat lanes, red buoys and is pretty easy to navigate. It's absolutely necessary to have a map and a navionics chip would be even better. PM to follow. Good luck.

by early he means before 4 AM LOL you can wait till about 7 in the morning and drive right up and launch. I have done both, I prefer the 7AM. I do agree 154 would be a good place for a new person but be careful out there, it gets bad at times. The fish should be in full fall pattern by then. Good Luck and be very watchful.

If you are willing to commit to one area, launch at Hideaway Harbor and stay in/around Little Caney all day. But be willing to idle as you move around inside L. Caney, even if you have a boat lanes chip.

Follow the lanes. Don't assume you can follow other people. Should be fishing good during the tournament. "Full fall pattern" though?....yea probably not.

Pay the money $3, and launch at a marina. There will be traffic, but less of it. The big creeks for spawn will be the big creeks for fall with tons of traffic: Glade, Williams, both Mustangs, Dale, etc. There should be less traffic in the backs of the creeks. If I were to fish it, I would go shallow in the back of one of the "far away" creeks and pick them apart for decent unders or the "one bite" in the grass. Pick somewhere near deeper water with timber, docks, or in the old ponds... work moving baits just below the surface or soak a worm/senko for the unders. Overs, you'll have to ask someone else.

The lake is full so doesn't look that imposing but there is plenty of things that go bump if you don't know where they are. Outside of the boat lane is an idle only if it's your first time. Plenty of places that you can fish all day and not have to navigate much. See how the wind will be to decide on where to go

I like the boat ramp at Mustang Resort, you will launch into Little Mustang Creek and be centrally located in the lake. My choices would be a drop shot to catch money fish and a jig to try and land an over. Good Luck and be safe.

I would do what's already been said, with the lake being full if you are out of the lane crawl like a turtle if your in the lanes keep your head on a swivel and run hard and fast so you don't get ran over .

If it was easy, everyone would do it

It's incredible, seen it many times as well. Just hold my breath waiting to see what it's like to nail a tree but they always make it through.
