What do you guys down south think this storm can do for the lake? I've read reports for years seems like for people calling for a hurricane to hit to fill up the lake. Well it looks like this weekend just may be it. I hope you guys stay safe if y'all get hit.

I hope so, but I won't hold my breath. Hoping Choke Canyon gets some water too. Here in San Antonio we're supposed to get 7 inches.

Doesn't look like it is hitting Falcons water shed. Hopefully Choke will catch some water.
I hate photobucket.

Falcon will most likely get very little from Harvey. Falcon needs a storm to come from the West Coast through Mexico to hit it where it needs to be hit. Here's the most current map of forecasted rainfalls over the next 7 days from the storm. If it remains accurate Falcon will see maybe a couple of inches of rain and possibly none.

It doesn't look like it helps Falcon much, but any little bit is better that nothing. A strong westward track movement before land fall would help more.

I think Falcon will be on the drier side of the storm, hopefully they can get a couple inches though.

When was the last time we had a hurricane actually fill up lakes?, people always say this but I can never remember it happening, what I do remember were droughts following Rita and Ike.

A hurricane is not different than a low pressure system that comes from the NW west and makes its way to Texas and sits and rains for a week. That is what filled up Lake Travis that was I think 80' low and maybe more. Hurricanes are just low pressure systems that form over the water and build into strong storms with high winds.

The latest stearing models have collapsed. It could literally go west or east or sit in South Texas for 3 days. Dangerous situation for lots of people

It would have to go in 100 miles south of Brownsville to do much for Falcon. I wish it would get some water. Choke has a chance to get some, but it depends on where the storm goes.
I've lived on the coast for a long time and we will know when its over.
I got a feeling I'm not going to have to water my yard for a good while. Houston has been going through its 5th wettest Aug on record. Could get interesting.
Thanks, Billy

They are calling for possibly 40" of rain here in Corpus Christi. If that happens I will no doubt have at least a foot of water inside my house. Puckered

I've been watching this very closely because my mom lives on Matagorda Bay close to Port O'Connor and we have a ranch in Pettus with 500+ very valuable animals. All of the forecast keep showing significant strengthening and potentially horrible rain totals for most of the Texas Coast. I still think Falcon gets very little from it but i fear it could be a very bad deal from Corpus to Houston. Hopefully people close to the "bullseye" are getting out of town now. My mom is packing up and will be at our ranch this evening. Here's an updated estimated rainfall map. You'll notice the coverage of the 10-15+" area has grown significantly since the last map I posted.
