I know it is a popular way to catch fish in the winter. Do any of y'all spider rig in the summer? The crappie seem pretty scattered on the pines, I figure covering more water might be a better tactic than setting on a brush pile.

Ive seen a few people pulling crankbaits up on pines and they've been whacking them.

I have in the past...you can spider rig brushpiles, just have to pull up to the outside of them slowly or fish over the top of them. Boat control is a premium to keep from hanging rods up.
