It rained. A lot.. it didn't effect the fishing at all until the massive rain storm on Thursday morning. It made Friday and Saturday morning very very tough. But the afternoons the fish ate like normal. Finally this morning thy bit great again! I feel like they just needed a lot time to adjust to the new fresh water. They actually bit her very good in 10-16 ft of water! Minnows still take the cake. I knew it had rained a lot Thursday morning, but it wasn't until I went and checked my deer cameras mid day Friday that I realized how much water we had gotten. My 165 acre property in Grayson county was almost all under 3 ft of water. The creek rose above the banks and it was unbelievable how fast it came up and went back down. I literally have a picture of a deer walking or swimming by one of my feeders. It's an awesome pic! I'll try to post if it'll let me! Anyways, the water is settled and the fish are still doing their normal thing! Definitely my favorite time of year to fish timber. This week the only spots I have as of now Monday evening working mans, Thursday and Friday morning half days. Weekend is booked up as well! If you're looking to get out and catch some fish, it's a good time to do it! We have been catching a lot of really big ones!

Good report Cody. What a flood you got. Been like that all year it seems.
Since you are the Ray Bob expert, let me ask you a question. When do you think the crappie will move into Buck creek on the bridges? I usually have some super days in October but think they are there earlier.
Thanks,
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Yep, that area along and northeast of a Gainesville-McKinney-Emory line as taken it in the chin for rain this Summer. I know, I'm a meteorologist for the NWS here. Even here at DFW we've moved up to 7th on the all-time, wettest Summers list. Last Summer that was like this was a decade ago in 07'. I remember issuing flash flood warnings out the yazoo and know I have a lot for areas from Sherman to Paris constantly.
Before you know it, there will be a drought. Enjoy the lakes being full for awhile up there. It'll pay off in the next year or more.

Thanks, I feel like it's much cooler this year than normal. With that being said, I think by the end of September you might could catch some numbers off of some of the bridges!

Before you know it, there will be a drought. Enjoy the lakes being full for awhile up there. It'll pay off in the next year or more. Please send some down South. We haven't had any measurable rain in quite some time. In just one week one of the local lakes dropped at least a foot possibly 1.5. I hate to think how much the other one dropped. Fished it about 3 weeks ago and one flat that I normally have no trouble getting across I bumped bottom twice. Don't think I can make it across it now. >E
Columbus took a chance and he made it.

I think some dude named Harvey is planning to help you out this weekend with that problem.
Fishin' to stock Lake Crisco.
