Lake Athens, 1:15 or so during the eclipse. Report: I had a fish on my first cast that fell off . . . small and chasing shad. I could see them in the 4 ft. water around the boat house. Then, a few casts later, I caught one of these small schoolers. Then, I heard some commotion on the opposite side so I went over and pitched right to the area it had come up, got it hooked up. My drag was set too low so it pulled me into the pads but I got her out. I'd say 2.5 lbs. and a nice dark saddle on a healthy fish. They are really feeding up on shad almost all day long. It's fun to watch them chase the shad in shallow water . . . you can see the "arrow point" as they move through the water. Conclusion: fish all future eclipses. Ha! Brad

Beautiful place you have there. I really like the dock. Thanks for sharing.

I snuck over to White Rock Lake during the eclipse. I didn't expect much since it's always tough fishing there. Right at what was probably the peak of the event, I caught a 3# LMB. No pics, sorry....South West side of lake near pump station.

I too fished the eclipse today. The fish seemed to be hitting pretty good and I managed several nice ones. I'd say the 3 largest ones were probably in the 14 to 17 pound range but unfortunately I had been looking at the sun (as I was warned not to do)and I couldn't see the fish to photograph them. It's possible that they might have been closer to 14 to 17 inches, but I'm pretty sure they were much larger. All were released, however since I couldn't see I might have accidentally tossed them on shore. I too will be fishing all future eclipses and hopefully by the next one I'll have my service dog trained as I broke 4 Falcon rods trying to feel my way back to my truck. Come to think of it, they might have just been Zebco rods. I'll ask my wife when I get home. Wish this eclipse would end. I can't see a thing.

I fished most of the day Monday, and did pretty much zip until AFTER the eclipse, when they turned on for me. In about a 20-minute window, I caught fish almost every cast by counting down a Rattletrap for about 5 seconds. When I started to crank, the fish were on. Nothing over 3 lbs, but lots of fun. There was no surface activity, so I was fortunate to even find them. The buzzards did roost during the eclipse.
