For all that follow my posts you will remember that I lost my previous tube. I tried to use an old donut style tube I have but it wouldn't hold air. So, I had to get a new tube. The Cabelas in Allen TX had a Caddis (Nevada Model) for $99 and I decided that would do. I have a Cabelas visa and always have a bunch of points so I used points to pay for the tube and paid the sales tax with cash. So the tube cost me a whopping $7 and change.

Today was the first day I could use it so I loaded up at daylight and went to Lake Athens. The tube worked fine and the fish were biting.I spent a few hrs catching one sunfish after another. I didn't want any for the table so I turned them all loose. I used my typical Lake Athens rig of a 1/64th oz unpainted jig head with a piece of crawler about an inch long. The redbreasts could leave it alone. I'd guess I got 30-40 of them up to about 10 inches long. In between the sunfish I got a small bass and a channel cat of around 2 lbs. I kept the cat for supper.

I'm back in business! Life is good here in East TX.

Flags, does your new tube have any new "stuff" on it that your old tube didn't?

Good report! Nice to see you caught both quantity and quality!

It's a smaller tube and has 2 less pockets for carrying gear than the older one. Not really a big deal because having lots pockets usually leads to carrying too much gear anyways. It is also green and not blue which means nothing since color doesn't matter to fish. I also sit a little higher in it than the old one which will take a little getting used to and it seems a little more maneuverable which is a good thing. Since it only cost $7 in real money I can't complain at all. I'll get at least 7 years out of this one so that is cheap fishing.

Nice post. Have you ever had any snake encounters while in your tube?

Nope. I have had snapping turtles surface next to me and have had a beaver on Athens swim a circle around me. I figure they were curious and didn't know what I was. In CO once I had a river otter steal a trout off a stringer I had hooked to a plastic ring. That was kind of cool.
