I fly fished lake Texoma the past two day and had a great time and caught plenty of fish. This past Tuesday I put in at Eisenhower State Park and was on the water by 6:30am. Headed west out of Eisenhower along the rocks and the sand bass and stripers were schooling on top in some of the largest schools that I have seen in a long time. The Sand bass were of good size but the stripers were of the smaller variety. We were using 6wt rods with floating line and charetruse/white clousers. Sometimes you would find larger sand bass and stripers mixed in with the average size. We caught fish all morning long and were off of the water at 11:00am. If you want to have a great time catching tons of fish, now is the time to go. Wednesday was an exact repeat of Tuesday!!!!!

May I ask what size clouser you were throwing? Size 6? Also trying to determine how long you were letting the fly sink before the retrieve. I was in the same exact place 1 week ago; saw the same boils, but was having difficulty getting looks at the white zonker I was throwing.

We should hook up off line; I'm on the water almost every weekend.

Yes, the hook was size 6. However, when I tied the flys, I made sure that the material for the clouser was only as long as the shad that they were chasing....about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. I used a med. gold lead eyes and tied the fly sparse. We used wt. forward floating line most of the time but had some full sink if the fish went down and stayed down for a while. It seemed like each of the points of the coves would hold fish for some time and we could use the full sink there but while the schools were moving on top we used the floating line. we let the fly sink only a foot or so when the fish are on top but when we fished the points or were targeting fish that were not on top we would let it sink for 5-6 feet.

I will be fishing with my daughter this Saturday. I have a brown G3 tracker type boat. Hope to see ya on the water.

I fished the same area again this morning and caught around 20 med. size sand bass and some smaller stripers, but it was nothing like we saw on Wednesday and we covered some water to get those. However, you can still catch fish in Eisenhower or at the dam area. Sometimes 24 hours can make a lot of difference. If I were using my yak, I would try the dam area first. It always seems to hold fish.

good advise in a yak get there before first light for sure though. But this time of year very reliable surface action almost every morning around the dam. Like stated a day can change a lot some days they stay up much longer than others. I just feel you can get a little wind protection in a yak around the dam as they surface close to the ramp.

And if you see a tiny skiff bobbing around in this week's cool weather, that's probably me. Feel free to pull up, and be sure to ask for a snack!
