I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that the power cord for the hummingbird 1199 is the same as that for the Helix 12 G1N. Please correct me if I am wrong. I was wondering about the transducer/s are they the same as well? For example, if I was running a HB 1199 already and came across a head unit only for a helix 12 G1N, what else would be needed for this unit to perform at its maximum potential? Or could I just swap out head units?

Power cord is the same. The external satellite puck is the same. There is a bit of difference in the transducers. The XHS 9 HDSI 180 T which was common transducer on the 1100 series will work with a Helix 12 CHIRP SI model, but not the Helix CHIRP 12 DI model and not with the Helix 12 model without SI or DI. I am not sure you will get full benefit of the CHIRP feature using the older transducer.

If you get the helix 12 gen 1 si then it would be as simple as switching heads and cable collector. But as capt Craig stated if you didn't get a si unit it would require a different transducer.

No such model as a G1N.

The first generation Helix 12 CHIRP SI GPS uses the same transducer as the 1199ci HD SI Combo

Well if it isn't a Gen 2, be default, it is a Gen 1.

Okay. Sorry for any confusion that this post may have caused but I will try to be more clearer. I just bought this.

And this is what I was running prior.

So my question is with the new unit, could I get by with just swapping head units or would I need to change transducer and all?

It's the same transducer XHS 9 HDSI 180 T. Just change the head and save it for a backup if you want. You'll still have the CHIRP in your sonar.
