Update on Chandeleur Island fishing......airing on the Angler's Journal TV show on the Discovery Channel will be an episode produced by John Brownlee and fishing guide Ronnie Daniels. Should air Sunday (tomorrow) 8/26 at 6:30 am. However best to set your recorder beginning at 5:30 am to 7:30 so as not to miss it. This episode was filmed aboard the Chandeleur Islander Lodge in the Chandeleur Islands.
Also great great news...the LA Wild Life and fisheries has increased the limit for specs and reds for remote fishing camps such as us to a 3 day limit of filets with skin on one side. This means our anglers can take home 75 specs and 15 red fish !!!! You will need a receipt from us to document you spent 3 nights. Two nights will get you a 50 fish limit.
Both of these events are awesome news for the Lodge in the sky. More and more Texans are coming to this destination.
The bite has been slow for the last 2-3 weeks but the fish are huge. Finally the west winds have subsided to SE and catches should improve. Will update.

I can't imagine someone killing 90 fish and packin a cooler full especially the bigger female specks. A true sportsman will frown on this.

Limit your kill--don't kill your limit

Agree. That is way more than most any household consumption needs. Louisiana has always been very liberal with bag limits.

Most anglers do release the big sow trout especially when they are big and fat with eggs. Even with the new generous limits most will take home what they can reasonably haul and release the rest....and it's not every day you can catch a limit. Very fortunate that the Chandeleur Islands hold so many fish. And as a reminder...the new limits apply to remote camp sites accessible by boat or seaplane only.
