Hey All,

Finally back in Texas! First time out this evening and I saw plenty of small mouth jumping all around me but no matter what I threw nothing seemed to bite. Any ideas? Good top-water? Plastics? Its been a long time since I've fished in Texas and a first for this area so I'm all ears!

Edit: I think this belongs in the bass fishing section.

Smallmouth on phantom? Probably whites, hybrid or gar jumping. Hybrid have been ok on shad and slabs, but you have to find the schools and then the hard part is staying with them as they move.

White spinner baits run close(parallel)to rock banks produced well yesterday morning(as always actually).
My buddies were free drifting large perch on the spillway and slammed pretty much everything, two blues over 30# and 9 really fat hybrids in two hrs(10-12pm)then the broiler was turned on we were loaded and gone by 1pm.
Ran 12 jugs out about 5am this morning baited with carp and picked up four nice blues about 8-10lb and six under 5lb,off the lake by 8:30am by the Silo's
The old mudhole is very predictable, the Hill has walleye but never smallmouth

Where is the silo located? Is perch pretty much the go-to bait for catfish? How about Bass, white spinners along any bank? What part of the lake is best?

Thanks! Sure i'll see you out there sometime.

Silo are on the south west side
Perch and fresh carp are my go baits
I like big gizzard shad too but the others are tuffer baits.
Ill be out there tonight,fri-mon is when all the scum bags come out.
Run your jugs, steal your jugs and fish etc.

So I've been out multiple times now and have yet to catch a fish....Trying for bass and used the spinners you suggested. Perhaps you could attach a picture or links of some good lures? Not sure what I'm doing wrong!

Thanks! wink

Well I caught my first fish today, a largemouth around 2 lbs! Happy to be back in the mix. For those interested I used a plastic worm with a Texas rig. Still hoping some spinners or shad will produce some results.

Does anyone know a good local guide for this lake? I'm catching a few fish here and there but not having the luck I'd like. Specifically interested in bass only, not catfish or crappie. Thanks!

B1TX,
I can show you around out there but I can't promise much. There are good bass in that lake and a lot of fish but it's hard to consistently produce numbers for some reason.
