No, typically fluorocarbon. Although sometimes mono is good because it will help your plastic float a little bit vs dragging the bottom.

No I want to be able to break it off and retrieve my weight if I get hung up. I just haven't seen any reason to change from mono or fluoro. I used to think mono was to let it have a little float to it but have recently watched a video of both and they both drag the bottom from the weight of the hook and plastic. I guess you might find some more buoyant plastic out there that might float the hook

The reason I was asking is we are fishing a lot of rocks and I figure the braid would not fray as quick as the floro and break if you get a big bite.

You might be OK with braid leader in heavily stained water, but I would probably just up my fluorocarbon leader size. ^^^This. I would just expect to have to re-tie a couple of times. If it bothers you to have to stop & re-tie, I might suggest having some leaders already set up so that you just have to throw the weight on the mainline and tie on the new leader.
