Yesterday was my first trip back on the water, since being at the coast! Boy it was a great way to start off my busy weekend too. Came out of the gate at around 6:40 and found whites schooling first thing. They would stay up for 5-10 seconds at a time and go back down, chasing tiny shad. Naturally I couldn't make them bite any lure I had due to size. Being overcast and activity first thing it was obvious they would feed early. I took off to a ledge that falls hard into 40' hoping they would be running the side feeding. Found a few here and there but not enough to commit time. Finally about 75 yards away a big shad got pushed to the top and it was pretty well game over after that They never surfaced , but the graph went black, and I was able to catch a picture after the action and we had caught our limit! The majority of our fish came off of big threads and a few off 1.5 slabs. I figured id throw a picture of my girlfriends first land based shark from our trip at the coast too

Great report and nice shark! Is there a coast trip report? I'd love to hear how that trip went too.

Great report and nice shark! Is there a coast trip report? I'd love to hear how that trip went too. Thanks! I have a live feed on Facebook of the whole fight if you wanna check it out! She gets seasick super easy, found that out on last year on our coast trip with the boat, but this was her vacation and she wanted to go to the coast still. I wasn't about to make the trip without fishing a little lol. I've surf fished quiet a bit so we loaded up the yak and big Penn reels and headed down. Bought whole stingray from Sea Pony's in Winnie and we were fishing out of High Island. We had runs immediately with two poles out, broke several big fish off, they would snap 50lb main line like thread.. I was kayaking 350-400 yards out, and there were so many sharks in the surf that 2-3 times they would be running while I was coming back in, and Emily would be flailing her arms If I would of had someone else there that could have paddled more baits out we could have caught a lot more, but it put a beating on me within the first two hours!

That's sounds like an awesome trip! We've done a little of that fishing out of High Island too, catching some bull reds and blacktips. I hate to relish in your pain but that makes me feel better it beat you up, it does the same to me but I thought I was just getting old! I'd watch the video but since I don't know how facebook live works that probably proves I am in fact old.

Solid fish! I'm on my way! oh wait it said Saturday hope this weather change doesn't affect the catching We waited around and looked for close to an hour yesterday morning and they were a no show. Found good schools but they weren't hungry. My clients wanted to catch fish, so we switched it up and caught cats It didn't feel like August yesterday lol
