Is this a Coppernose Bream? We caught a bunch of them on a trip to Florida. My wife caught them on a crappie jig and I caught them on a fly I tie for crappie. We caught these along with Mayan cichlids and a few peacock bass.

Yes....copper nose in full spawning regalia. They are native to Florida.

Thanks, we caught quite a few and some were bigger than this one but this pic showed the color best. They fought pretty well.

They are a great fish ...especially on the fly rod. The mature ones generally will hit larger flies such as you described readily. Love the copper nose.

I've seen that color at Fork this summer..almost look crappie like.
