Last summer I bought a Sea Hunt with the Minn Kota Ulterra trolling motor.First problem I had was transducer was not working. Dealer sent it to authorized service center. Three weeks later it was back on the boat. Then before winter the stop lock went out. Due to family health issues I was not able to take back to dealer until 2 weeks ago. Once again off to service center. Got it back on boat yesterday. They replaced the head. Went out on lake today and hit deploy. The trolling motor stood up but did not deploy into water. Now the boat cannot be loaded on trailer. I wet slip the boat. Anyone else had these issues? I paid a lot of money for this boat anchor. I will call Minn Kota tomorrow. I will let you know what they say. I am frustrated.

If your TM was serviced and raised prior to stowing, when you deploy, it just stands up and then you need to use the remote to lower the unit into the water. You also need use marine grease on the hinge and water-based silicone spray on the shaft and belt. Periodically you may need to tighten the belt along the shaft as indicated in the manual to keep it taunt. I have had both a fresh water and salt water Ulterra and not had any issues.

I love mine. But I also have a GMC Yukon Denali that I have had continuous trouble with while everyone else loves theirs. It's the nature of buying something mechanical.

I've had an Ulterra for 2 years now. No problems whatsoever. Works like a charm.
You must have just gotten a lemon.
Your dealer will work with you to make things right

Not to break the fun, I plan on buying one myself....but is ANYONE worried about a kid with his laptop on the bank making your ulterra run into a powerboat or a dock for fun?

AFAIK the i-Pilot system isn't secured against hacking at all. Minn Kota says "Shouldn't be a problem, we use the same code again and again."

To me, that sounds like the definition of a problem.

No. I will be sitting there fishing. Not letting someone else run my motor.

The range isn't very far. I've lost the signal to mine when I spotlocked it while getting my truck and had to be taken to the boat.

Trailhand: I've had a terrova for about 5 years. I swear a monkey designed it sometimes. Lot's of small design issues. Having someone hack it and crash me into a dock is not funny at all.
