I was organizing my rods and reels earlier and was thinking how almost all of my combos consist of reels made in Japan mounted on rods made in the USA. Why is it that there are no USA reel manufacturers anymore? If I remember correctly Ardent used to be US but now they're China/Korea. I assume most companies conduct production overseas to save money but if you're the only one making reels in the US you would stand out from the pack and I would think be pretty successful too depending how good your reels are, what I'm getting at though is you would sell product just because of the made in USA stamp alone. Thoughts?

Penn and Nautilus reels are made in the U.S. Probably more but the only two I'm aware of.

I myself would support a 100% made in the USA reel company. I looked on the Penn website and could find nothing about Made in the USA. That is crazy, why would you not take advantage of the advertising if you are one of the few making products in the USA?
Its time that we start bringing jobs back to the USA, building quality products.
I think many would pay a premium for American made product.

There are several companies still making fishing reels in the USA but from what I have seen, they are mostly fly-fishing reels and deep sea reels. It appears that some PENN reels are made overseas but some are still made in Pennsylvania.

Just like so many products, America cannot compete with the literal slave-labor in China.

Its a crying shame too. Maybe, just maybe that will change in the near future.

Exactly! People would buy just for the simple fact it's made in America. I don't understand why there's no low profile baitcast reel made here. Even a Zebco was originally American made.

Reels are so small these days you've got to have little bitty hands to assemble them.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

That's good to know, I myself don't use fly reels nor deep sea so that does no good for me.
