cheers

Reminded me of my first encounter with a tarpon in south Florida... 1987, on foot, fishing a seawall for snook late at night, free lining a live shrimp, weightless. The snook are right in the shadow line three feet from the wall, its late late and I'm done for the night and walking back to my car, almost sleep walking but still dragging the shrimp just below the surface. Tarpon takes the shrimp and in a split second jumps directly away from me. I have like 10 feet of line out, almost have rod jerked completely out of my hand, fish throws hook that whizzes right by my face. What a wake up call.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

That's great! I've fought three tarpon, all on a bass rig and all between 15 and 20 pounds, I suspect. One of these days I will get one to the kayak or the shore.

I fish on a 14 ft piece of plastic.
