Besides Fork, which Wood county lake is the best over all lake in your opinion?
Do any of them have much grass this time of year?

Every small lake in Wood county can be good. Depends on what your looking for and the timing of when you hit it.

Hawkins is one big grass bed. I enjoy Holbrook the best.

I like Holbrook as well, if you can catch them schooling up by the damn in the morning you can have a great time.

I've fished them all, Hawkins, Holbrook, Quitman and Windsboro and there all good just depends what day you're going. I think the best in the county is Greenbriar but you have to get into Holly Lake Ranch to fish it.
Slide right, coming in .... Fish On!

Best in the county is a private lake outside of Winnsboro. Have to have property to fish it though. Lake record is 14.12 and has had 5 SAL's that have come out of it.

Really just looking for public water info, and which ones have grass. But if I win the lotto.. maybe I will buy some property. Thanks for all the info. I appreciate it.

They all can be good , Hawkins is full of grass , but IMO the hardest to catch a good fish , I catch better quality in Quitman than any other WCL . Winnsboro can be great for numbers , but hard to catch a big fish there , Holbrook is a cool little lake , and I have had some really good days , and some really rough ones . My advise , is to wait a few months , this heat has them off the bite .

I always liked Quitman the best.

if gilmer is in wood county it is the best.
out of the four normal small lakes, holbrook is my favorite, hawkins was a good lake 15 years ago but i think the locals ate all the bass.

Hawkins always has grass and there are really good quality fish in that lake. Winnsboro is one of my favorite lakes to fish. There isn't a whole lot of size but you will get tired of catching none the less. Let me know if you need any tips, I live in Wood County and grew up with all those lakes.
