 8-10 Ft. Rods?

With the new BASS rules allowing longer than 8 ft rods, is anyone using these for cranking or flipping? Just curious. 'spoon

I don't have any longer than 8, I have a hook spit rod that is 8 ft, for deep crankbaits. It makes the casting and retrieve a lot easier. 9 might be ok, but a 10ft rod would be a pain in the arse in the boat.

I honestly don't know if I want a 9-10ft rod or not.

I have one I use for crappie and bream that's 10 foot.

I have some 8's for frogging and swimbaits. Over 9 seems cumbersome

I have few 8' punching, flipping, deep cranking and swimbait rods. Really don't see a need for anything overy that for me.

I have few 8' punching, flipping, deep cranking and swimbait rods. Really don't see a need for anything overy that for me. I agree. Over 8ft would just be too long for my front deck.

I have the 8'8" cranking rod from St Croix and it sure makes fishing the Deep running cranks easier and can throw it a long ways. But that being said its only used for those situations so don't have it out much unless I'm on TB, Fork or Rayburn.

Yep ...I recently got the 9'2"-flipping Rod the 9-foot spinning rod and the 10ft crankbait rod from Eagle Claw. (Skeets). They are all telescoping rods... And they have already paid for themselves tournament dollars

I have an older Castaway 8ft "Coastal special series" rod w/a Lew's super duty that gets double duty with DD cranks and Croaker/Surf fishing.

Like many above I use an 8' rod for big deep diving crankbaits but don't see myself going longer at least not for casting from a boat. That being said: I remember the day when we thought a pistol griped 6' to 6 1/2' was pretty standard and a 7' rod was really long. Now I use 7' 3" casting rods all day long for just about everything. Never say never!
