Has anyone been catching anything out there at night? We used to go with a crappie light and catch everything at night in summer. Haven't been in years and wanted to see what it has been like recently. I'm going to take my kids out hopefully tonight so any tips would be helpful.

In past years, I have caught sandies and occasionally hybrids by the 380 bridge while crappie fishing at night. Have not tried that recently, so I really can't give you an update. Sandies have been schooling this summer in late evenings north of rattlesnake island in shallow water. Deeper water between there and the smaller island might be a place to fish at night.

Went the past two weekend. Went this weekend to Carter. First trip we had tinny minnows and caught fish non stop from 7-10 then it slowed until about midnight. Not sure how many would have kept we didn't keep any. Mostly seemed like 9" fish. Went last weekend with wife and got bigger minnows. Didn't catch as many but again very steady until about 10. Then there was a slow hour or so and picked up again. Prob had more keepers that trip and had "bass" minnows. We didn't have any drop lights so we fished dark. Both trips to BP used 4 dozen minnows. Went to Carter last night and caught a lot of small crappie. About 12am the big ones started biting and ran out of minnows. Had maybe 10 minnows left when they started biting. Used up half a pound. Had 3 keepers and lost 2 more at boat that got off in a span of about a minute it seemed lol.

What I hear is BP is better during the day. Catching limits. Nights is a bunch small ones for us.
